About
Hello, I am Liz Monson, your healing partner in medicine.
My mission is to provide individualized integrative medicine consultations and shared medical appointments to expand treatment options and support the body’s innate ability to heal.
My personal journey with integrative medicine began almost 30 years ago as a graduate student with a high burden of stress and difficulty sleeping. I began yoga practice and was amazed at how it relieved my insomnia.
Hospital patients were not only receptive but also surprised by how effective Reiki and acupressure could relieve their pain and anxiety better than traditional medications.
Our team collected data regarding the use of bedside acupressure to treat pain and anxiety. We published our results and presented our findings at national and international conferences.
My journey shifted to educating myself about the evidence base for these holistic therapies and systems, and I obtained clinical certification in yoga therapy, Reiki, acupressure, and auricular acupuncture. I began implementing these therapies in my practice and trained other healthcare practitioners in the practice of acupressure, meditation, and Reiki.
I continued my training with a Fellowship at the Andrew Weil Center of Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona. The effects of this fellowship first surfaced in my personal life. I have three chronic medical conditions, and with changes in diet and exercise, implementation of mind-body therapies, and evidence-based botanicals with a better safety profile, I have eliminated most traditional medications that were only managing symptoms.
This experience changed my life. Integrative medicine has many options to promote health and healing that expand and enhance the traditional Western medicine model. I am here with you on this journey to cultivate healing and empowerment to find your sustainable options for better health.
